  New Head of School Appointed: 21/08/2006
 

Mr David Mansfield, MA (Cantab), MBA, PGDipEd has been appointed as the Head of the School with effect from 1st September 2007.

Mr Mansfield is currently Head of Southend High School for Girls and loves with his family in Stansted.  He was educated at Bishop's Stortford College and Pembroke College, Cambridge.  He obtained his PGCE at Worcester College, Oxford and consequently was able to gain a "double blue" at hockey.  Mr Mansfield’s teaching subjects are history, politics and RE and he holds a Diploma in Theology/Religious Studies.  Prior to his appointment to Southend High School he was Deputy Head at KEGS for 6 years; most of his previous teaching experience was gained in the South of England.  David is a member of the National Headteachers Steering Group (SSAT), is Chair of the National Language College Headteachers Steering Group and the Southend Secondary Heads Association as well as being a member of other educational committees.

As well as undertaking regular courses of in-service training, David is training provider and has carried out a number of projects of educational research.  He has been active with Link Community Development, an NGO/Charity working for school improvement in Africa and development education in the UK.  In addition to his hockey "blues", Mr Mansfield played for England under 21's as well as representing his county, Hertfordshire.  He also represented Hertfordshire at U19 cricket.  Other interests include ornithology and being Trustee of the Cornerstone trust, a local charity which supports unemployed and homeless young people.
